Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship

Programmed, in partnership with Yancoal, is committed to upskilling the local community in the Hunter Valley region, by offering a leading four-year apprenticeship program, starting Mid-Year 2026.

With opportunities at Yancoal’s Mount Thorley Warkworth mine, we are currently seeking candidates interested in a career within the Mining industry for a Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship. Mt Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is a large open pit coal operation located in the NSW Hunter Valley region approximately 10km Southwest of Singleton.

Inherent requirements of employment

  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Must hold a current driver’s licence or have plans to obtain a driver’s licence within the first 12 months
  • Completion of HSC is desirable but not required
  • Candidates must live within a one (1) hour drive of Yancoal’s Mount Thorley Warkworth mine sites
  • All school leavers from 2024 & 2025 to provide copy of school reports
  • All shortlisted candidates will need to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical including Drug and Alcohol Testing
